    BOS,

I have been contacted by numerous Shawneeland residents who have expressed their concern over the efforts to remove the current Shawneeland Sanitary District Advisory Committee Chairman, Mr. James Smith, from the advisory committee altogether at the expiration of his term. Historically, the Chairman is allowed to remain a part of the committee at the end of their tenure due to their knowledge and experience obtained over the course of their term.

As a committee member and Chairman, James has been more involved, and has done more for the community than any other committee member, or chairman that I have seen over the 11 years that my family and I have lived in Shawneeland. His accomplishments are too many to discuss here, but one accomplishment that I would like to mention is his coordination with the Winchester Congregational Community Action Project (CCCAP), which resulted in delivering much needed food supplies, and personal toiletries to needy citizens of the Shawneeland community who were suffering due to job loss, and other economic impacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Those actions made a significant impact on the community.

I have not heard anything discouraging about Mr. Smith's performance on the committee and it appears that the attempt to exclude him from future participation on the committee is more of a political move, than the representation of the wants and needs of the community.

Although Mr. Graber has the right to nominate whomever he wants, members of the community that have contacted me, request that the Board of Supervisors reject Mr. Graber's suggested appointment, and allow the residents of Shawneeland to decide when committee members are no longer wanted. Mr. Graber can then fill future positions as they become vacant.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.
