My name is Gregory Gallagher (Back Creek District) and I have come before the Board twice before in support of this ordinance. I apologize for not being present during this meeting as there are some family matters that require my presence. I have looked over the proposition and agree with all of the regulations 100%. I truly believe that chickens can make a great pet for my children. He has always asked me about them. I propose that chickens do no more and I would say even less harm then a dog or cat. My neighbors have a cat that tramples into my yards and I see their paw-prints over my car. The dog that howls or barks at different times during the day. Yet these animals are commonly kept as pets - so I am not entirely sure why dogs and cats are allowed and not chickens. We plan not to use the chickens as meat or egg-production to sell or make any profit from - they are going to be pets and nothing more. I believe that allowing this ordinance to pass will make a great learning experience and an opportunity for my son and his brothers to learn about chickens and have them as pets.
