This comment is about Ruebuck Lane (224 address). My husband and I have spoken with Mr Dwyer at Equus. He was able to explain to us certain questions we had. The discussion items were as follows:
1-The proposed easement of our property for a cul-de-sac - Equus proposed their staking out a preliminary area of approximately 1728 sq feet. We called Mr Dwyer after reviewing his proposal and we told him that we did not want and easement for the proposed cul-de-sac. He went back to his original plan. Cul-de-sac would be on his property.
2-Proposal of paving Ruebuck Lane. We are opposed to that also. VDOT will need to put in safety cautions signs. The traffic on a two way lane are already a safety hazard. Persons exceed the speed limit of a dirt lane. Creates unnecessary dust, safety issues if we are mowing or weed eating. Folks just proceed to fly by even if we are at the mail box. We have lived here for 36 years and this has gotten worse in the last year or so. Courtesy if you meet another vehicle going in the opposite direction, the drivers will not let folks pass they will run you in the fence or tree. VDOT needs to clearly mark Caution signs. This is just a lane that is less than a mile long. Two lane thru traffic sign is needed. Caution signs for persons exiting their driveway are needed. If the proposed lane was paved, there would be trucks rolling through all night. If you add a school bus route to the mix then it will have to be designated as a school bus route = more safety/traffic issues.
Mr. Dwyer has stated that the development he proposes would not increase traffic. Both traffic and safety will be affected and need to be in the plan.
3-Would this proposed development allow us more options for high-speed internet in a rural area?
4- Environmental impact of putting up a high dirt mound with trees on top to block out light and sound is on the proposal. A dense rustic view would be preferable for aesthetics. Thank you, Coopers
