I purchased my first Jack Russell in 1999. When I asked seller about the papers she laughed at me. I expected papers, a pedigree at least. We raised that pup with love and lost her to old age. I knew the next one would be a purebred with papers to prove it. It was not a show worthy pup and I knew that I wanted to show someday. Enter Candace Lundin into my life with a registered pup in 2011. Candace and Frank have been devoted mentors since.
We live on opposite coasts, but the miles have made no difference. Frank showed me how to groom my dogs and how to show them. Right after showing a dog in CA the phone would ring and it was Frank asking how we did. Always positive even when not placing. He would say, “Did the dog show well?”
Candace showed by example how to care for my dog. The sale of that dog was not the end of our relationship. They were concerned about her well being, training and happiness.
I’ve had many dogs from the couple since. They never wavered on their follow up about how the newest dog was integrating into my household. Everything from an upset tummy to housebreaking would become almost a daily conversation.
I’ve been a guest in their home more times than I can count. Always clean, neat and tidy. Dogs were all exercised in an orderly manner in small groups several times a day.
I’ve seen Candace tenderly give care to weak pups helping them thrive. Even if that pup became a special needs dog made no difference. There were many sleepless nights feeding a weak newborn. She raised those pups and found special homes for them with no expectation of compensation. She would provide expensive special food for the new family at her cost. Her education as a veterinarian guides her on the care of the dogs and also when situations are hopeless and a dog needs to be humanely euthanized. It affects her greatly to give up on a failing dog. She does everything possible when a dog needs care. Expensive testing, equipment and food.

    Re: 13A
I live in Pennsylvania. 13 years ago, we searched for a purebred Jack Russell pup. We had rescues in the past and purebreds as well. With an active family of boys, we were set on a healthy Jack pup. We researched to make sure that it is not a store or puppy mill facility as very prevalent in Pennsylvania area. Through searches online with breeders, I found Candace and Frank. She was also a working veterinarian part time in a county near me. I was able to learn about her farm and the pups she is so dedicated to.
    In 2011, Instead of getting a pup, I took one of Candace's older females;
Carly was about 3 years old, the sweetest little girl whom we still care for now at 15. We have a partially fenced yard and
Carly has never strayed. Very healthy, she still loves a good game of fetch.
We have been fortunate to have 2 other DBF pups, intelligent, happy, and life members of our family.
I am a canine artist, my paintings in national shows, including the National AKC Museum of the Dog.
Commissions nationally, including donations for rescues and the National Seeing Eye Foundation.
I have used my own russells as models for paintings which have won awards and sold,- www.joycedanko.art
Stayed in contact with Candace through the years, and involved in some of her promotional endeavors,
including the huge achievements of her Worldwide magazine dedicated to living, loving, caring and working; all things Russell.
Her family of supporters are world wide; she is renowned for her commitment to continuing the health and standards of the breed. She is well respected by all who are know her, hundreds of followers on facebook and instagram continually
post their life stories with gratitude for their pups that had the best start. She is always available as her clients become part of her extended family. Hers is the OPPOSITE situation of the mill mentality; and only harm will ensue if her dedication and commitment to the breed are misunderstood or attacked.

    Re: 13.A.
I live in Tennessee, so I do not have a Magisterial District.
I purchased a pup from Candace and Frank in March of this year. These are my objective observations:
I was required to complete a questionnaire for screening purposes prior to my purchase.
I was provided updated photographs of my puppy every couple of weeks.
My puppy was not available to me until he reached 12 weeks of age (95% of breeders allow pups to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age). This ensured that he had adequate time with his mother and littermates.
When I arrived at 159 Larrick Lane, Middletown, Virginia, I noticed that the property was immaculately maintained. The grounds were well manicured and well kept. I noticed two Russell Terriers inside the front fenced area. I was amazed that they did not bark when I approached them. Instead, they ran to the fence and greeted me with kisses through the fence. Both dogs were clean and appeared healthy. There was clean water in their fenced area and I saw no feces on the ground.
Frank Zureick came outside and placed my puppy into my arms. My pup was clean and appeared healthy. Frank then invited me into the house, which was clean and beautifully decorated. I sat on the sofa and Frank asked me several questions about my lifestyle to be certain that my new pup and I would be compatible.
Frank gave me a record of my pup’s vaccination and deworming history as well as an AKC registration application. He also provided information to activate my pup’s microchip.
My puppy is now 9 months old. He has had no health issues to date. He is happy and outgoing. He has no issues with other dogs, cats, or children.
In conclusion, I am a dog lover. My dogs are with me all day, every day. They go to work with me, eat with me, and sleep with me. As a dog lover, I am vehemently opposed to “Puppy Mills” and other situations where dogs (or any animal) are subjected to neglect and/or abuse. DBF Kennel is none of these things.
