We support the 2 for 2 foundation. A swimming/ice rink facility is desperately needed in the Winchester area. This would benefit all members of our community!
Please support the 2for2 foundation in bringing a pool to our area. With an aging and inadequate facility and a growing community we are in desperate need of a swim facility. The Winchester Swim Team is unable to hold indoor swim meets at the current facility loosing the city tax revenue that could be made from hosting these swim meets. Most U.S.A. swim teams make the majority of their money from hosting swim meets, but this is not the case for Winchester. Thank you!
We fully support a 2 for 2 working group be formed to work towards bringing a public/nonprofit proposal for a mixed water/ice facility. Citizens of Frederick County can only benefit from this type of facility, and the many activities it can provide.
We request the 2 for 2 working group be formally created to draft a public/nonprofit proposal for Water and Ice facilities. Citizens of Frederick County of all ages could benefit from this facility.
I am hopeful this board will support 2 For 2 Foundations work to bring swim and ice facilities with no tax burden for the residents of Frederick County.
We fully support the 2 for 2 working group to draft a public/non-public proposal for Ice & Water facilities to provide athletic, educational, and recreational centers to the community.
Requesting support for the 2 for 2 foundation, our town has continued to grow and there are many more residential improvements been approved. We need more choices and facilities to support extra curriculum activities for all citizens.

We request the 2 for 2 working group to be established by the BOS to formally discuss a public/nonprofit proposal for Water and Ice facilities that was previously approved. The benefits of a swim and ice facility include promoting health and wellness, providing educational opportunities for high schools, fostering community engagement, offering recreational activities for all ages, generating economic impact by attracting visitors, and ensuring year-round utilization. This working group will help facilitate and contribute to the physical and mental well-being of the community, aligning with the vision for a vibrant and healthy community that will be utilized year round. Our kids/community need this and especially our local schools.
I strongly support the request 2 for 2 foundation working group be given the go ahead to draft a public/non profit proposal for an indoor Aquatics and Ice facility.
We need an indoor aquatic facility! I am a mother of 3 daughters, that we (husband and I) raised in Frederick County VA. Our girls, who are now in their 30's, swam competitively for FCPS, FCPR, and independent swim teams. We envied competition aquatic facilities. Here we are, decades later, faced with the same situation. Please consider adding this need to your agenda.
We request the 2 for 2 working group, unanimously voted for by the supervisors, be formally created to draft a public/nonprofit proposal for Water and Ice facilities.
Bringing ice and pool facilities to our community and region, as conceptualized by the 2 for 2 Foundation will provide sorely needed resources and services to our citizens. My comment is in strong support of and request that the BOS establish the previously voted on working group to begin formulating a proposal towards the realization of this project.
The 2 For 2 Foundation is about creating a public/nonprofit partnership. The foundation spent 2023 researching this model to create a recreation and development center that would include Water and Ice facilities. The facility will have educational programs, intervention and prevention strategies, and provide a wellness model for the entire community.
The water facility has been on the CIP for three decades, and has been taken off of each new high school proposed leaving our growing Swim teams with no facility. The solutions being proposed not only takes in consideration the high schools, but also the at capacity usage of the outdoor pools during the summer.
There is a specific focus on inclusion and the 50% of the population that needs financial support to learn the life saving skill of swimming. There’s a need for swim literacy in our public schools.
Swimming, as well as ice activities, are lifelong skills. Ice has special qualities for the mentally challenged and is a popular activity that many locals travel over one hour in one direction to enjoy.
The supervisors’ 7 to 0 vote to create a work group has not been implemented to date. The Foundation actually met with quite a few blocks in 2023 with trying to move this project forward and the supervisor liaison to Parks was changed causing more blocks.
This project has a huge impact on the projected growth for our area in addition to having Money stay local. Just as the world record challenge was a bottom up situation, so is this Foundation. It is all volunteer to create something for our kids and our kids’ kids.
Let 2024, a new year, start on the right foot and get the work group already voted on unanimously finally working on a proposal this week to give residents what they need and want and avoid raising taxes or telling us “not now” again as has been said for decades.
