We fully support Rezoning Request #07-24 for William and Barbara Houdershell of the five acre parcel. This rezoning aligns perfectly with our goal of preserving and protecting the character of the circa 1883 Monte Vista home and adding to the charm of the 2,000 acres of preserved land by the Town of Middletown and our park partners. It’s surprising that the area was ever zoned M1 (manufacturing) in the first place, as this zoning has led to the current challenges we face with the neighboring property. The adjacent 12-acre field, was sold in the 1970s and is currently zoned M1 with a 1978 water/sewer agreement, the property that is slated to be the Steel Dog facility. We believe that rezoning to RA (Residential Agricultural) will not only better reflect the area’s current use and protect the historic integrity but also provide significant tax relief for the Houdershell's.
