12.B) Rezoning #11-24 of Route 7 Self Storage (Edward P. Browning IV) to Rezone 2.38 +/- Acres from B1 (Neighborhood Business) Zoning District to B2 (General Business) Zoning District with Proffers to Enable a Commercial Development. The Property is Located South of Route 7, Roughly 0.4 Miles East of the Intersection with Greenwood Road and is Identified by Property Identification Number 55-A-180 in the Red Bud Magisterial District.
The public hearing comment period was opened on March 12 and was continued to March 26 by the Board of Supervisors.
Several emails and comments have been submitted by residents opposing this application and numerous meetings have been held among the BOS and residents. NOT ONE RESIDENT of Red Bud District has advocated in favor of the rezoning and nobody (other than applicant) can provide a good reason why it should be rezoned.
When it comes down to doing the right thing, I believe the Red Bud District rep will correctly vote in OPPOSITION. In case he does not, I AM REMINDING THE SUPERVISORS THAT IT IS THEIR DUTY TO VOTE WITH THE CONSTITUENTS and NOT simply follow suit with a BOS district representative. This should be a democratic vote that allows constituents voices to be heard. I understand the representative has a wealth of knowledge about the district, but I know the constituents best on this topic because I have hosted residents, the developer, and BOS in my home. If the BOS does not OPPOSE this rezoning, they are blatantly going against the constituents' voices, county codes and county comprehensive plans. This property does not meet the criteria for B2 and should not be rezoned as such. Rezoning for B2 will allow for a much larger facility to be built there and the one the applicant has shown to the BOS is not even compliant with B2 height restrictions.
Multiple BOS reps stated they did not want to prioritize either the homeowners' or the developer's rights - the best way to do this is to leave the property zoned as-is.
I URGE EACH BOS REPRESENTATIVE TO:
1. LISTEN TO THE RESIDENT VOTERS
2. MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICE FOR THE BETTER OF THIS COMMUNITY
3. DO NOT SIMPLY LEMMING YOUR WAY THROUGH THIS VOTE
Please read my more thorough email that was sent to each of you. In speaking with some of you, it appeared it had not yet been read.
Thank you in advance for making the correct choice by OPPOZING the rezoning request.

It doesn't meet the criteria for B2. Plain and simple.
