Dear Supervisors, thank you for this opportunity. VA has more than 600 data centers. No other place on Earth has so many in such a small area. We have talent to do something remarkable. Together, we can shape educational sessions led by visionaries.
Tonight, I ask you to guide the future EDA ed. session toward world-class, sustainable data centers, using the best sustainable design. Don’t bring us yesterday’s playbook. Show our community the best being built anywhere in the world today.
FC’s rural heart is our greatest strength. It is the core of our quality of life, our low costs, and our low taxes. We cannot afford to damage it. We must preserve what is priceless: our tree canopy, health, heritage; the coziness that makes us resilient. This is our guard against out-of-town developers whose pursuit of happiness too often looks only like ROI.
This session should boldly feature data centers that cut energy use with the most efficient cooling and operations, reuse heat for district energy, manage their power so they support the grid, protect our dark skies, and show world-class architecture and green design so thoughtful you could hardly believe they were DCs. These are already happening in leading places. We deserve to be on that list!
Imagine it together: agrotourism, fine dining, startups, and smart headquarters. Imagine US & world leaders visiting our vineyards and farms because they also came to see vision with care. This attracts the kind of talent that wants to live in a place that protects its community, its land, its water, and its night skies. A few world-class, sustainable data centers are the only types truly compatible with that vision.
Please direct the DC ed. session to focus on these models and guardrails (industrial zones). so we safeguard FC’s character while welcoming the innovation to shape our future. For those at home, reach out if you have resources. We can help protect what is priceless and build prosperity worthy of our community. Gainesboro
