The MARL transmission line, does not belong to or for Feederick County. So let Loudoun County find a transmission line in Loudoun County leave our private property for our families.

As a taxpayer and parent, I must say that I find our Parks and Rec department to be detrimental to helping kids be involved with youth sports. Beyond the fact that our facilities need major upgrades, we are more focused on making sure adult softball teams get to live out their glory days 4-5 days a week. Nevermind the fact that this is done mostly in a smoky haze of THC dab pen smoke or while guys are getting boozed up on the bench or in the parking lot. Just the other day I was walking out of Sherando Park after watching a flag football game. Beyond the contact buzz my 7-year old son got, I was also able to see guys drinking beer in the parking lot and using language so colorful that it would make Eminem blush.

Rather than supporting youth sports, whether it be travel or rec, we have a Parks and Rec department that wants to gatekeep and ensure that kids can't get on fields. No, we would rather see them sit empty because God forbid children get to go out and get better. But will make sure that those fields are blocked off for adult slow pitch softball. Those teams come in, trash the place, and leave. I mean, I've seen guys smoking in dugouts and I can't tell you how many times I've taken my kids to a field to get some work in and I find beer bottle caps and cigarette buts. Is anyone ever held to a standard there? Highly doubt it. But if kids show up to a field early to get work in they're run off and told that their time begins at XX and they are to leave by XX. I don't necessarily blame the park rangers because I am sure they are just following a directive. But I will make it my life's mission to ensure this Board does something about this. Our kids deserve better. They deserve a chance to have great facilities they can call their own. They deserve to have a Parks and Rec Department that supports them. They deserve to have taxpayer dollars - which this county is swimming in - go towards giving them an outlet. I hope you all find a way to fix this. And soon.
